How do I know if my drone is compatible?

KlauPPK software was originally built to support KlauPPK (NovAtel) hardware. The software was modified to support DJI RTK drones, and more recently US-built UAVs.

KlauPPK software needs to see the raw GNSS data and a file of timing marks. Something along the lines of this image. 

Do I need base station data?

Yes and no. If you do have your own base station, that is great. Full constellation data is best, logged at 1 measurement per second. This works well on sites with their own datum, to tie your drone survey directly to the local network. 

Or you can download CORS data. KlauPPK has direct integration to NGS NOAA (in the USA, free), Smartnet (global with a subscription) and AllDayRTK (Australia/NZ with a subscription). KlauPPK will download data from a station you choose, for the time span of your mission. Or you can manually download from any CORS site and treat it as your own base data. 

What if I’m out of range of NTRIP or CORS for PPK?

If you are really stuck, with no base station data available within PPK range, MakeItAccurate will process your data. Cloud based PPP trajectory processing, fully integrated in the KlauPPK desktop. Why am I getting float results (orange dots 25cm accuracy)?

Float solutions will happen due to various reasons:

  • your base station data is not at 1 hz, maybe 10 or 15 seconds per epoch
  • your base station is too far away. Typically 30 or 40km should be OK, but if there is ionospheric activity at the time it can affect it
  • your rover data is poor for some reason, bad antenna connection, that kind of thing.

Coordinate System and Geoid Support. KlauPPK software converts the default WGS84 geographic coordinates to any published coordinate system and applies the geoid separation. Users can also perform datum transformations and site localization.

Smart Geotagging. Computed high-accuracy camera positions with their horizontal and vertical accuracy values can be written to the image EXIF data, or to a text file with other survey report information. The accuracy values are applied in photogrammetry processing software, again helping to achieve the best possible results.
